Nick Cannon, Selita Ebanks Call It Quits October 6, 2007

Months after a public proposal in Times Square, Nick Cannon and Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks have parted ways — for the time being. “Selita and Nick are taking a break to focus on their careers but still very much love each other and remain the best of friends,” Ebanks’ publicist, Melissa Raubvogel, said on Thursday. No further details were provided. Cannon popped the question in May. The 26-year-old rapper-actor got down on bent knee as the words “Selita will you marry me?” flashed on a giant TV screen in Times Square. He then presented Ebanks with a 15-carat diamond ring that he helped design. They met at a Super Bowl party in Miami in February.

The accolades keep coming for America Ferrera. The Emmy-winning star of “Ugly Betty” is now the Hispanic Woman of the Year, the Hollywood Reporter and Billboard announced Thursday. The publications will honor Ferrera and the 25 most powerful Hispanic women in film, television and music at their inaugural Hispanic Women in Entertainment breakfast at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Tuesday. Ferrera “is a leader for all women, but especially those in the Hispanic community,” publisher John Kilcullen said in a statement. He said the 23-year-old actress is “dedicated to advancing the position of Hispanics in television and film.” “It’s an honor to be in such esteemed company,” Ferrera said in a statement. “And it’s a thrill to see talented women recognized for their work behind the camera.” Ferrera has won Golden Globe, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild awards for her portrayal of Betty Suarez on the ABC show.

The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is widening her global horizons with two more international projects. Ash, who recently signed Sir Ben Kingsley’s film on Taj Mahal, and is currently filming ‘Pink Panther 2’, is reportedly considering two other international films. “She is considering two other international films for next spring,” BBC quoted Rai’s foreign agent Simone Sheffield, as saying. “She is special because she can play different ages and ethnicities. Because of this, many producers and directors think of her in a wide range of roles,” she added. Meanwhile Ash will play Mumtaz Mahal in Sir Ben Kingsley’s planned magnum opus on the Taj Mahal, which will feature him as Shah Jahan. The as yet untitled film will be produced by Sir Ben and is scheduled to be shot in India in 2008. The director of the film has not yet been chosen and the script has yet to be completed. The film will also feature Bipasha Basu, who will portray the role of Shah Jahan’s daughter, Jahanara.

There seems to be no end of troubles for jailed Indian celebrity designer Anand Jon, for he has been indicted on 59 new counts of sexual assault. The charges range from rape, lewd acts against child, possession of child pornography, oral copulation by force or fear, and sodomy. There are 20 purported victims between the age group of 14 and 27. If found guilty, the New York based fashion guru faces life in prison, reports TMZ. On Oct 4, a L.A. County grand jury that heard 23 witnesses over 9 days of testimony, remanded him to custody without bail. Actress Marla Maples, who was seen at the trial, said that she was there to lend support to Jon’s mother and sister. This March, the Indian born designer was arrested on a warrant issued in Dallas. He is also being investigated on counts in Texas, New York and Massachusetts. Arraignment on the new charges has been scheduled for Oct 25.

‘Desperate Housewives’ star Eva Longoria was shocked to find two strangers in her trailer. Longoria found two women using the bathroom in her trailer, reports contactmusic.com. The women explained that they had wandered off a tour at the studios and needed to use the bathroom so they used Longoria’s when they found the trailer was not locked. Longoria then met security and she was told that the tourists were mistaken for extras on the set of ‘Desperate Housewives’.

ctress Sienna Miller attended the premiere of her new movie ‘Stardust’ but was banned from attending 60,000 pounds after-party.
Miller was the star attraction on the green carpet at the premiere but had to miss the bash thrown by the director Matthew Vaughn and his wife Claudia Schiffer in their Notting Hill home, the Daily Mail reports.
According to the sources, while producers of her new movie ‘Hippie Hippie Shake’ gave her special permission to attend the premiere, they wanted to make sure that she had a good night’s sleep and so instructed the actress not to attend the party afterwards.
The director and his wife greeted 250 guests at the door of their house, which was decked out with posh candles and incense. The bash began at about 10pm and went up to the entire night.

The publication claims that the actress has gained 10 pounds, but has completely ignored the Oscar Winner’s taut stomach. “The most striking area of Angelina’s weight gain is in her chest, which is why we focused on that area,” the magazine said.
