Her bold portrayals in films like ‘Julie’ and ‘Sheesha’ have etched her in public consciousness as one of the hottest ‘glamour girls’ in Tinsel town. She may have of late been seen to try her hand at de-glamourised roles in Anand Kumar’s ‘Delhi Heights’, Priyadarshan’s ‘Chup Chup Ke’, Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Dus Kahaaniyan’ and Rajat Kapoor’s ‘Mithya’ but at the same time, Neha Dhupia is not apologetic about her ‘glam girl’ image. “Ever since I joined the film industry, I have been associated by the audience with a glamorous image. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it after all,” said Neha and added “I cannot help looking the way I do.” Talking to UNI here, Neha, who made headlines a few years ago with her famous quote “only Shahrukh and sex sells”, said she was not averse to doing roles which required her to expose or look glamorous. “I will not shy away from doing a film just because it requires me to expose or look glamorous. But yes, it should all be for a purpose,” Neha said. Lately though, one has seen the actress in many a realistic film where her role was far from glamorous. “I took up films like ‘Delhi Heights’, ‘Dus Kahaniyan’,'Chup Chup Ke’ and ‘Mithya’ because I felt doing these films would help me realise my potential as an actor,” she said. For example, in her latest film ‘Mithya’, where she features alongside accomplished actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Ranvir Shourey and Vinay Pathak, Neha plays a role far removed from the glamorous roles one associates her with. “In ‘Mithya’, I play Sonam, a gangster’s moll. The character of Sonam is far removed from the glamorous portrayals I have done till now. The role did not require me to look glamorous,”Neha said. Neha said ‘Mithya’ featured in an interesting romantic track with Naseer and Ranvir. For someone who has just been a few years in the industry, how was it sharing screen pace with such an accomplished actor as Naseeruddin Shah? “The first day I was shooting with Naseer, I was very awed. The same was the case when I was shooting with Ranvir and Vinay who are actors with some calibre having been associated with great cinema. However, all the nervousness soon got eased as all of them were very helpful. I found all of them very nice, humble people. Infact, after ‘Mithya’, I have done three more films with them,” she says. Neha said working with such accomplished actors, some amount of nervousness initially was but natural. What also put her at ease was the absence of any starry air in any of the actors comprising the film’s cast. “On the sets of ‘Mithya’ everybody was an actor. Nobody went in as a star,” the actor said. For Neha working in films like ‘Ek Chalis ki Last local’, ‘Dus Kahaaniyan’ and ‘Mithya’ has been an altogether different experience from her glamorous portrayals in many of her earlier films. “Working in realistic films like ‘Mithya’ is quite a challenging task. For example, in ‘Mithya’ just watching actors like Naseer, Ranvir and Vinay tought me a lot about acting. Working alongside these actors and a director like Rajat Kapoor, I realized that acting is just about focusing on your performance. Everything else does not matter,” she says. “I used to come from a school of thought that you do things this way or that way. But now I know you do not need to worry about things that are not important. The only thing an actors needs to worry about is his performance,” Neha adds. She is specially full of praise for Rajat Kapoor, the director of ‘Mithya’. “When Rajat narrated the script to me I found it very beautiful and interesting. I had earlier liked his work in ‘Mixed Doubles’. However, after working with him in ‘Mithya’, I have developed greater respect for him as a director and human being,” remarked Neha. “Infact, watching ‘Mithya’ recently I realized that Rajat as director had surpassed everyone’s expectations and done such a wonderful work,” Neha said. Deepika Padukone is proving to be a pretty indecisiveness girl at this moment. The Om Shanti Om beauty who was caught shuttling between Ranbir Kapoor and Yuvraj Singh just some time back is being linked with Nihar Pandya, her ex-flame, once again. The duo had been seen soptted together several times of late but if the love bug bit them again, we don’t know. According to some Padukone is trying to find her future with Ranbir Kapoor only espacially after Yuvraj Singh fiasco. Just a few days back she was shooting a soft drink commercial with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor when Nihar arrived on the set of the ad film, she preferred RK over Nihar, whom she did not welcome. Though Deepika did not exactly ignore him, but he could sense that her attention was clearly divided. There was an awkward moment between the two men, who did not exchange even a single word. So, Poor guys left the sets soon enough leaving Deepika giggling with Kapoor lad once again. The onllokers on sets reveal that they enjoyed the shoot and loved spending quality time with each other. J.Lo and husband Marc Anthony are celebrating the arrival of a baby girl, born at 12.12am and weighing 5lb 7oz, and a boy, following at 12.23am and weighing 6lbs. All is not well between Preity Zinta and Shiney Ahuja on the sets of Jhanu Barua’s ‘Har Pal’. According to reports, the lead pair is not getting along with each other. In fact, the actress is having a tough time dealing with Shiney. According to sources, Preity is pretty fed up with Shiney’s antics and is trying her best to remain professional and finish the film. Initially, they were cordial to each other and the first schedule went very well. But now the atmosphere on the sets is hostile. One of the problems is that Shiney believes in giving a lot of retakes while Preity believes in giving her best in the first shot. Also, the actress is very punctual, while Shiney not only arrives late but spends long hours after that reading his lines and getting in the right frame of mind. Their styles of working are opposite. But it was Shiney’s behaviour on one of the schedules that intensified animosity. One of the scenes required Shiney to hug Preity. It was an intense dramatic scene and once the director called ‘action’, it seems that Shiney hugged the actress so hard that she yelled. She made her disgust apparent about Shiney’s manner of holding her. On that particular day, Preity made sure that Shiney stayed away from her all day. Now the pair share a strictly professional relationship and Preity stays away from Shiney. She does not want the film to be affected and is quite excited about her role in the movie. Lindsay Lohan’s mother gives her opinion on her daughter’s recent photo shoot.
According to MSNBC, Dina Lohan does not have a problem with her daughter’s recent nude photos featured in New York Magazine.
“It was very tastefully done,” Dina told People.
The 21-year-old actress posed nude for photographer Bert Stern to recreate one of Marilyn Monroe’s famous photo shoots taken shortly before her death.
Lohan, wearing a blonde wig and not much else, was photographed in the same Bel Air Hotel were Stern had photographed Monroe in 1962.
“I didn’t have to put much thought into it. I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It’s really an honor,” Lohan said, according to the Associated Press.
Stern added that Monroe and Lohan had similar problems with alcohol, but noted that there was no alcohol at the photo shoot with Lohan, unlike his shoot with Marilyn.

The latest star on the block Deepika Padukone is dead against showing her body on-screen and that is why she has turned down an offer from Anurag Basu .
Basu’s forthcoming venture includes loads of exposure and therefore Deepika had decided to say no to the man who last directed the superhit Metro .
Basu has not yet decided on the title of the film. If Deepika at some point of time changes her mind then she would get to work opposite superstar Hrithik Roshan in the movie.
But there is no reason for Deepika to panic on missing the opportunity from acting with Hrithik because she is going to pair with the superstar in the sequel of Krrish .

It had to happen. After Guru the movie-making maverick Mani Ratnam was bound to return to his favourite actor. It comes as no surprise to know Abhishek Bachchan and Mani Rathnam will team up again for their third film together. After the terrific tuning that they shared during Yuva (which Abhishek describes as his career’s first turning-point) and Guru (which he acknowledges as his second turning-point) it doesn’t require much calculation to see the creative and commercial viability of the Mani-Abhishek pair. Abhishek’s better- half too is back in the Mani-fold. Coming out of his bereavement (Mani lost his brother earlier this year) Mani Ratnam is all set to announce a supple romantic film featuring filmdom’s foremost marital pair. Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan will come together in Mani Rathnam’s film that starts shooting in September. According to a source very close to the project, “It’s going to be a very intense love story. Where Guru was more a bio-pic with a cavalcade of characters claiming screen space, this film will focus primarily on the romance. It’s a very intense film. Mani most romantic film to date. Kirstie Alley is getting into the business of weight loss once again as she has broken away from her partnership with Jenny Craig, and is starting her own weight loss brand. The 57-year-old Alley has stated she hopes to “develop and pilot my own weight-loss brand that I hope to launch in 2009.” She spent three-years with Jenny Craig, which she stated was “extraordinary.” She stated she will now help millions of people fight obesity and lose weight. Jenny Craig offered her a contract to stay, but Alley turned it down to start her own brand apparently. She will no longer appear in the Jenny Craig ad campaigns. |
