Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank has told how she’s “looking for balance” in her life.
Speaking in LA on the promotional trail for her new movie PS I Love You, the US star vowed that her New Year’s resolution this year would be to “try and find some balance in my life, I need to balance it out a little more”.
In the movie, Hilary plays a young widow who discovers her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.
The romantic comedy is certainly a departure from other film roles she’s taken on, like a transgender man in Boys Don’t Cry and struggling waitress-turned-boxer in Million Dollar Baby, but the actress insists she fancied doing something a bit lighter.
“I love doing drama but it was a great opportunity to do this movie, something just romantic, comedic and fun,” she said.
But the film wasn’t exactly a walk in the park for the actress, especially as we get to see Hilary sing for the first time.
“Doing the karaoke, singing Judy Garland, those were challenging and completely different, I’ve never sung in a movie before, thankfully I don’t have to be a good singer,” she said.
PS I Love You hits cinemas in the UK on January 4.
